My approach
I trained initially as an integrative psychotherapist, which means that I am informed by developmental theories such as attachment theory, various psychoanalytic theories (childhood influences are important for our later life) and by the belief that human beings have an innate capacity to heal themselves. This fits well with my later interest in Jungian theory, where individuation, the urge to become oneself is seen as the major force that propels us towards healing and understanding.
Experience
I have worked in various settings, ongoing in private practice since 1994, and in agency settings such as charities and a university Student Counselling Service. I see trainees for their training therapy and also for supervision.
